I wanted to look at the branding of children’s book subscription services. Analysing their strengths and weaknesses will give me inspiration for my product and also things I want to avoid.
Wee Bookworms
Additional brand touch points
Strengths
- It is a Northern Irish company so using the word “wee” in the name is suitable. This could make locals feel like they have an emotional connection to it.
- People can guess from the name what the business is about.
- Purple: This colour has imagination and fantasy associations which is highly relates to children’s books.
- They have a friendly, inviting look and feel.
Weaknesses
- There is inconsistency between the main brand and the additional brand touch points. The logo is a bird and the other illustrations are worms. Should the main logo also be a worm? They also don’t use the same colour scheme.
- Word mark is quite basic, it could benefit from having more personality.
