For my brand so far, I have a word mark which I am happy with. The next step is to design a logo which works alongside it so they compliment each other. I have started by doing a few mood boards to start ideas flowing.
I found lots of inspiration from existing book subscriptions and book publishers. Animals seem to be a common theme in these brands as they are appealing to children. It could be useful to have an animal as part of the logo as this could become a character seen throughout the product.
Another thing I came across were castles. This plays into the fantasy of “Far Far Away” as it looks like it is from a far away land and feels quite mystical. This is the feeling I want my product to have. Therefore, I decided to create a mood board of logos which have that “fantasy” feeling. You can see this mood board below:
This Instagram account is a great way to find logo inspiration from multiple designers. They have interesting logos using negative space, wordplay and colours. They also show how logos are built up using grids. The sketches that they post are inspiring to look at before I begin the sketches for my own logo. I love how creative they are while still keeping their simplicity.
Learnlogodesign is another great account I have been taking inspiration from. They give tips and tricks on how to design an effective logo. They also have multiple grids you can use in your own designs.
