In class today, we learnt about branding and the importance of a good name. We got to spend some time together as a group after the lecture brainstorming ideas for a name. I found this very beneficial as I got to hear other people’s perspectives and viewpoints. This gave me ideas that I wouldn’t of thought of otherwise. I also got to assist others with their name.
The first thing I did was create a mind map. I put the word “Book” in the centre as books are what my product is all about. I would like my name to encapsulate how people will feel when they use the product. This will make it more likely that the user will feel an emotional connection to the product. It should also highlight what the product will do.
Here are some of my favourite words and potential names that have come from this mind map:
Names
Far away land
Happily ever after
Once upon a time
Far Far away
Distant world

Woodpecker/Bookpecker

“In the beginning”
Far Far Away
I really like the name Far Far Away. It is a common line used in children’s books. It also encapsulates how children feel when they read a book, like they are going on a journey to a far away land.
However, there is the association people may have to Star Wars "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” A disadvantage of this is that it may bring expectations that may not align with the brand identity. Alternatively, an advantage may be that it has nostalgia and familiarity for people.
I imagine a child asking their friend “Where did you get that book?” and the child replies “Far Far Away”. It has a nice ring to it.
