I started by brainstorming the main content categories within the app. So far, I think these are the main pages that will branch off to other areas of content.
I then split them into 2 categories. The first one is all about managing their account and where they will change their preferences etc. The second one is all of the main content they will be accessing daily. It will be likely that the child would use the content in the second category on their own. Whereas, the first category would be primarily used by the parent or the child would be supervised in this area. I think category 1 should have an optional parental lock on it to prevent a child editing payment options for example.
This is the sitemap for “Far Far Away”. The content and location of things may change as I begin sketching and wire-framing. However, this has gave me a good idea of where everything will be. It was nice to organise my thoughts like this and see it start to come together.

Changes
After beginning the process of sketching and figuring out the structure of the app, I have made some changes. Firstly, I changed some of the names of the sections to make them more child-friendly.
Statistics —> Progress
My collection —> My library
Settings —> Profile
Changing “Settings” to “Profile” now means that all of this content will now be in the profile area rather than having a separate section for settings. I think this makes more sense as it will contain all of the users personal information, their subscription type and orders. I think most people would look for this in their profile rather than settings.
I also moved the wish list from the users library to the explore page. This makes more sense as this is where they will be looking for new books. They can favourite them here and view all of their favourites from the same area. This means if they find a physical book they want but it isn’t time to order it yet, they can save it for later.
