✨To view my sketches properly, they will be in my sketchbook which will be left in the studio✨

My app has quite a few screens so I wanted to take the time to sketch these out in as many different ways as I could. This really helped me figure out in my head where everything should go and the layout for each screen.

The first few sketches are the 5 main sections of the app. These include, profile, my library/home, explore, progress and quests. From here, I would start testing different layouts for these and the screens within them.

Every page in my sketchbook is different. Some have crazy 8’s, some show the flow from one screen to another and others are any random idea that comes to my head for any page. I did this as I didn’t want to set limits or put pressure on myself when it comes to sketching. Instead, I wanted the sketching sessions to be free and creative.

The pages I enjoyed doing the most were the ones with 15 screens on them. Of course since there were so many of them, there wasn’t space for massive amounts of detail. This way I could focus on the layout and the most important elements that had to be included on the screen. They were also quick to do which gave me more time to try different ways of designing each screen.

After doing trial and error on the smaller screens, I would bring my favourite ideas to a larger scale. These only have 4 screens per page. This gave me a more realistic view of how much could fit onto one screen. This was essencial to me as I don’t have much experience designing for a tablet-based app. Therefore, it was harder for me to determine how much space I have to work with. At a larger scale, I could add more detail and even some written content. At this point I could see the app starting to come together. Especially now that I had the 5 main sections designed and more.

At this point, I have started to transfer some of these sketches into digital wireframes. My next steps are just to continue doing this and begin to prototype it. I will continue sketching as my designs change and develop.
