Who did I send it to?

I wanted to reach a wide range of people to get a good overview of the subject. I decided to send the survey to everyone in my class and ask them to pass it onto parents with children aged 5-12. This way, I wouldn’t know the people who are being surveyed and they wouldn’t have a bias towards me which may alter their answers. I also made sure to state that the results would be completely anonymous to encourage people to answer honestly.

The results

I received a total of 13 responses. I knew it would be difficult to get a large number of responses since I don’t have contacts with many parents. Therefore, I made sure to really think about the questions I was going to ask to get the most out of it. 11/12 of the questions are multiple choice. I believe people are more likely to complete the survey if it is convenient.

Question 1

How old is your child?

Discussion

I asked this question so I could see whether answers change drastically depending on the child’s age. This would give me an idea of how to tailor the product for different age groups and understand their needs. I got responses from parents with children from every age group provided.

Question 2

How often does your child read in their free time?

Discussion

For this question, the results didn’t really change depending on the child’s age, the answers seemed quite random. It is good to see that no one answered “never”. However, the majority only read sometimes in their free time. There is definitely room for improvement here and a need for increasing the desire to read more.

Question 3

Does your child read more at home or in school?
