I got lots of feedback this week, both from my tutor and from Paddy Donnelly as we had a meeting together. You can read more about this here.
We spoke a lot about my brand this week as it is starting to come together. I have decided to go with the fox-book logo. It was suggested that this has potencial to be a dynamic logo. Perhaps, with each level of reading it changes. It could change into a squirrel or mouse, for example. This could build anticipation and excitement for what it might turn into next. I could also create a name and personality for it to build an emotional connection with the audience.
The only concern I have with the logo is that it doesn’t suit the wordmark perfectly. The wordmark is quite twisty and hand-drawn and the logo is quite clean. Therefore, I want to find a way to make the logo look less geometric.
I have been struggling to place the wordmark and logo next to each other as there isn’t an obvious space for the logo. Therefore, we discussed maybe keeping these elements separate.
In terms of the actual product, I tend to go into too much detail and unnecessary steps. For example, during onboarding, there will have to be a test which determines the child’s reading ability. I was going to research into what this may look like, however, this may be unnecessary. This is one step during onboarding and isn’t a main feature. Going forward, I will have to consider whether or not it is worth designing extra screens that are not main features.
