Something that was necessary for me to maintain consistency in my digital wireframes was having a component guide. This meant that any recurring elements from buttons to corner radiuses were the same on each screen.
I tried to keep these as minimal as possible to make the designs more harmonious. This meant using one typeface in four sizes and limiting it to three weights. At first the prototype contained more than this but it was difficult to keep up with the sizes and weights I was using. I managed to reduce this and found that this was enough to create information hierarchy.
For some of the recurring elements such as, buttons, I designed components. This made it much easier for me to make adjustments to them which would automatically update throughout my designs. This component library will expand quite significantly next semester.
This grid is on every page to aid me in maintaining consistency. It provides a border of white space which shouldn’t be obstructed. This gives the designs room to breathe. Having this guide also made the design process quicker and easier as I could use it to make decisions on where things should be placed.
