How I want my wordmark to feel:

I want my wordmark to feel like it has been pulled out of a children’s book. These typefaces usually feel quite mystical and magical. Children’s books often take place in fairytale-like scenarios so I want to encapsulate the feeling children feel when reading these stories. Overall, I want it to feel inviting, playful and whimsical

Inspiration

I created this mood board which is a combination of typography from brands aimed at children and typefaces taken from children’s books.

The problem with some of the more mystical typefaces are that they sometimes aren’t very legible. Clarity is very important for my wordmark, especially since the product is aimed at young children. When choosing a typeface, legibility will be a priority.

Searching for typefaces

I didn’t want to use a generic typeface from the Figma font library. I wanted it to be unique and stand out, especially as it plays a big part in my brand.

I used the website 1001fonts as it allows you to put filters on the fonts to suit your requirements. It also allows you to enter text to see how it will look before you download it.
